“Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” – Schweitzer

Appreciation…

Albert Schweitzer
At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.
Ever have one of those days when you just wish you didn’t have to get out of bed and confront the day you know you’re going to have?  When it would be easier to just snuggle back into the covers, letting the day forget about you and pass you by?  Today was one of those days. But, the alarm goes off and you get up anyway, knowing the day is going to be difficult.  That’s life, right?  As you pad silently to the coffee pot, sipping on that first cup of caffeine for the day, and head to the computer screen, you hope against hope that the day will get better. Scanning your emails, you see a note from an acquaintance, thanking you for your activities from a few days ago.  This was a totally unsolicited message, sent from the heart.  All of a sudden, the day doesn’t look quite so bleak, not nearly as bad as you had been envisioning.  Maybe you can get through the day and make a difference after all.

Just a few words of encouragement, a note of appreciation, a kind message, a smile, can make the difference in a life, and transform what might have been a day of disappointment into a day of hope and light.  Be the spark in someone’s life today.  Relight their fire.  Rekindle their hope.  Make a difference in their world, and yours.

In appreciation for the work the 10dbc Team has done over the last four months I say we take a step back to ‘refresh’ for the next few weeks and appreciate life, our families and the opportunity before us. Our goal is to make a difference for the people around us and clicking the refresh button is key to maintaining the appreciation for self that is necessary to make that happen.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
