Developing a business often leads down the trail of fears. Fear: noun, an orgy of intellectual second-guessing.

You put a lot out there when you choose to develop your own ‘anything.’ It doesn’t matter if you’re an artist, party planner, writer, politician, or doctor. You put your heart and soul into what you do. Personality may allow you to push through the critiques along the way but inside, no matter how confident you are, there’s a part of YOU that doesn’t want to be chastised.

10 Day Book Club came to me in a dream. I had written a manuscript to deal with hardship and an editor took a look at it. She said, “It’s a good story. Now that you’re done what will you do? Do you want people to read it? Will you take the next step and publish?” I chuckled. There were enough unpublished manuscripts out there. I read about that. The Internet made reading about ‘anything’ so much easier and faster. From what I read, 95% of manuscripts were turned away and if they weren’t they were modified to become a ‘better seller.’ That’s not why I wrote the story but I did want people beyond family and friends to read it.

So…I beckoned the dream. Every night before bed I asked for a vision. After about six weeks it came.

10 Day Book Club is all about helping writers become an open book. It doesn’t mean that a writer’s story will go all the way to sitting on a shelf in a library. Although, it does stand a better chance because the manuscript went through development during the virtual book clubs associated with 10 Day Book Club. AND – a writer gains recognition, a following, during the process. They build a social networking foundation because they KNOW how to market themselves. It’s part of the book club process. An author is taught about getting their word out there and, in return, the writer doesn’t depend on anyone. Their success is self-driven and they can revel in the knowledge that they made it happen. 10 Day Book Club’s levels roll out on Monday, November 21.
